Celtic Knot opens for St. Patrick's Day; Irish Ale Pub opening postponed
Contrary to prior reports (being MY prior report, that is) The Irish Ale Pub at 95 Ferry St. will not be open for St. Patrick's Day.
On the Pub's Facebook Page, owner Eddie McAvoy said on Tuesday that he had received his temporary permit number, the pub will not be open for the next 15 days or so. While his establishment will not be open for the holiday, a number of local bars will be open and many are offering specials. Local establishments celebrating the holiday include Finnbar's, Bootlegger's on Broadway and Terry O'Brien's Public House in Lansingburgh.
For those in and around Rensselaer, another recently opened Irish pub, The Celtic Knot, received their liquor license on Tuesday and will be open today at 4 p.m. ("to start off St. Paddy's day a little early") according to their Facebook Page.
