Rensselaer County Housing Resources receives two state grants

Rensselaer County Housing Resources received a $250,000 grant from the state HOME program to assist "income-eligible" individuals in the county--excluding the city of Troy--with the installation or repair of furnaces, roofs, windows etc.

In addition, RCHR was awarded $150,000, through the state Access to Home Program to be used in modifying homes of people with disabilities in order to make them more accessible. Such funds can be used in both owner-occupied and rental units throughout the county, and could aid in the widening of doorways and the installation of ramps and accessible bathrooms.

The funds are expected to be available in the late spring.
